Speed · Accuracy · Focus

Online mental math for kids

Your child knows how to solve the problem, but counts on their fingers for every step and runs out of time before the last question on the test? Short, step-by-step mental math exercises build speed, accuracy and focus together. One-to-one lessons online for students in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman start at your child's level and make the exercises harder each time they master the ones before.

  • A free trial lesson is available with each teacher, in every section and subject
  • Lessons are one-to-one: one teacher per student
  • Lessons last 30, 40, 60, 90 or 120 minutes
  • Female teachers are available, with a dedicated section for women

Who this program is for

The program suits children from age 5 to 12. We start from what each child needs, rather than from their grade alone.

  • A child who calculates slowly

They know the operations but take a long time to solve problems, or still count on their fingers.

  • A child who makes frequent calculation mistakes

They understand the problem, then slip up on addition or subtraction and lose points they could have earned.

  • A child who loses focus quickly

They find it hard to stay with an exercise to the end and need short exercises, one after another, that hold their attention.

  • A child who loves numbers and a challenge

They've mastered the math for their grade and enjoy solving problems, so they practice harder levels at their own pace.

What your child learns in lessons

Short exercises that build step by step, moving from easy to harder as your child masters each one.

  • Numbers and place value

The student learns how a number is made up of ones, tens and hundreds, which makes it easier to break it apart and put it back together in their head.

  • Mental addition and subtraction

Strategies that make a calculation simpler, such as making ten or splitting a number into easier parts, then solving it without pen and paper.

  • Multiplication and division

Once addition and subtraction are secure, the student moves on to multiplication and division, learning to understand the multiplication tables instead of only memorizing them.

  • Speed with accuracy

Timed exercises that gradually pick up the pace, while we go over mistakes so speed doesn't come at the cost of accuracy.

  • Focus and memory

Strings of numbers that the student follows and holds in their head, training them to stay focused to the end of the exercise.

  • Mental math in real problems

We link what they've learned to everyday problems and to school math, so they can see how it helps with their homework and tests.

How your child progresses

Each child progresses according to what they've mastered, not on a fixed schedule.

  1. We find their level

We see how the student calculates today: their speed, the mistakes they repeat and how long they can stay focused.

  2. We build the foundation

We make sure they understand numbers and the basic operations before the speed exercises begin.

  3. We practice and level up

Step-by-step exercises in which the numbers get bigger and the pace picks up each time the student masters the level before.

  4. We review and reinforce

We come back to what they've learned with revision exercises and apply it to school problems until it becomes a habit.

How lessons work

  1. 1

    One teacher with your child

Lessons are one-to-one: one teacher per student, so the teacher sees how your child thinks and corrects mistakes on the spot.

  2. 2

From home, at a time that suits you

Lessons run on whichever available online platform is easiest for the student. Lesson times are flexible for each student and set in their country's time zone, so you can pick a time that suits your child, when they aren't worn out.

  3. 3

A lesson length that matches their focus

Lessons last 30, 40, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. Together we choose a length your child can stay focused for.

  4. 4

    Progress updates for parents

We keep parents updated on their child's progress, so you know what they've mastered and what comes next.

Questions about mental math

At what age can my child start mental math?

The program suits children from age 5 to 12. We decide on the starting point once we've seen how your child calculates.

Do you use an abacus in lessons?

We start with an abacus so the student can see the numbers in front of them, then move gradually to picturing it and calculating in their head without it.

What's the difference between mental math and math foundations?

Math foundations builds an understanding of the concepts and operations your child needs at school. Mental math trains them to carry out those operations quickly, accurately and with focus. Once we know your child's level, we'll suggest the right one.

How will I know my child is making progress?

We keep parents updated on their child's progress, so you know which operations they've mastered and what they're practicing now.

How long is a lesson?

Lessons last 30, 40, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. We agree with you on a length that suits your child's age and focus.

Is there a trial lesson?

A free trial lesson is available with each teacher, in every section and subject. The trial lesson lasts 30 minutes.
