Online Islamic studies for children, teens and adults

Your child learns the basics of aqeedah (creed), fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), tafseer (Quran interpretation), hadith (the sayings, actions and silent approvals of the Prophet, peace be upon him) and seerah (his biography), explained simply so they understand them and live by them: in purification and prayer, and in how they treat others. One-to-one lessons online for families in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, where they can ask about whatever is on their mind without feeling shy.

  • Lessons are one-to-one: one teacher per student
  • A free trial lesson is available with each teacher, in every section and subject
  • Female teachers are available, with a dedicated section for women
  • We teach in the language the student needs

Who this program is for

For children, teens and adults who want a clear, sound understanding of the basics of their faith, in steps that suit their age.

  • Children and teens

School-age students whose families want them to learn the pillars of Islam and of faith and how to purify themselves and pray, and to get to know the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

  • Adults

Anyone who wants to learn or revisit the basics of aqeedah and worship in an organized way, at a time that suits them.

  • Women and girls

Female teachers are available, with a dedicated section for women. If you'd prefer a female teacher, just ask when you book and we'll recommend one.

  • Non-Arabic speakers

Anyone who grew up speaking another language at home or at an international school learns the basics of their faith through simple explanations they can follow. Lessons can be taught in a language the student understands if they don't speak Arabic.

What students learn in the program

Five areas of study: we choose from them and order the lessons to suit the student's age and needs.

  • Aqeedah

The pillars of faith and the pillars of Islam, explained clearly in a way that suits the student's age and answers their questions.

  • Fiqh

The fiqh of worship: purification, wudu (ablution) and prayer first, then fasting, zakat (obligatory charity) and Hajj (the pilgrimage), as much as the student needs for their own worship.

  • Tafseer

A simple tafseer of the short surahs (chapters of the Quran): what their words mean and what their verses teach about belief, character and good manners.

  • Hadith

Short hadiths of the Prophet (peace be upon him) on worship, character and good manners. The student understands what each one means and learns how to put it into practice.

  • Seerah

The life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from his birth to his death, its key events and the character and values we learn from it.

How students move through the program

We start with what the student needs for their daily worship, then broaden step by step.

  1. We get to know the student

We ask about their age, what they already know and what they or their family would like them to learn, so we know where to start.

  2. We start with the basics

The pillars of Islam and of faith, along with purification and prayer, before moving on to what comes next.

  3. We explain and discuss

A clear lesson with examples from the student's own life. They ask questions and discuss, and put into practice what they can, such as the steps of wudu and the actions of prayer.

  4. We review and build further

We regularly go back over what they've learned and move on to new areas once the earlier ones are firmly in place.

How lessons work

  1. 1

    One teacher for each student

Lessons are one-to-one: one teacher per student, so the student can ask questions without feeling shy, and the teacher explains things in a way that suits their age and understanding.

  2. 2

From home, on an easy platform

Lessons are fully online. Lessons run on whichever available online platform is easiest for the student.

  3. 3

    Times that suit your family

Lesson times are flexible for each student and set in their country's time zone, so you can choose an after-school time, and we agree with you on a lesson length that suits your child's age and attention span.

  4. 4

    Progress updates for parents

We keep parents updated on their child's progress, so you know what your child has learned and what comes next.

Questions about the Islamic studies program

How is this program different from Islamic Education at school?

Islamic Education, or Islamic Studies, is a school subject with its own textbooks and exams, and it's one of the subjects in the Gulf curricula. If the student needs support with it, choose their country's curriculum from our curriculum pages. This program, on the other hand, covers the basics of Islamic studies in a simple way and isn't tied to any particular school coursework.

Does the teacher give fatwas (religious rulings)?

The lessons are for learning: the teacher explains the principles and answers the student's questions within the scope of the lesson. For a fatwa on a personal matter, turn to qualified scholars and the official fatwa authorities in your country.

Which school of jurisprudence (madhhab) do you follow when teaching fiqh?

Before starting, we agree with the family on the school of jurisprudence used for fiqh lessons. In fiqh, we focus on what the student needs for their daily worship.

Is the program suitable for adults?

Yes. Adults learn in a way that respects their time and experience, and choose with their teacher which areas to start with, such as the rules of purification and prayer, or the seerah.

Does the student need to be fluent in Arabic?

It isn't necessary. Lessons can be taught in a language the student understands if they don't speak Arabic, and along the way they learn the key terms in their original Arabic wording, step by step.

Can the student take Islamic studies and Quran memorization together?

Yes. Tell us what the student needs, and we'll suggest how to divide their time between the two programs.

Is there a trial lesson?

A free trial lesson is available with each teacher, in every section and subject. If the same teacher teaches the student more than one subject, such as the Quran and Noor Al-Bayan, that is one trial lesson; subjects taught by different teachers each get their own. The trial lesson lasts 30 minutes.
