Clear answers for parents

Frequently asked questions

These are the questions parents ask us most often before their children start with us, sorted into groups you can jump to from the links below. If your question isn't here, message us on WhatsApp and we'll answer you directly.

Lessons and how they work

Are lessons in person or online?

Lessons are fully online, so your child studies at home where you can keep an eye on them, with no driving back and forth and no waiting around. Lessons run on whichever available online platform is easiest for the student. All they need is a suitable device and a stable internet connection.

Are lessons one-to-one or in groups?

Lessons are one-to-one: one teacher per student, so your child can ask whenever they need to without feeling embarrassed, and the explanations follow their level and pace.

How long is a lesson?

Lessons last 30, 40, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, and we agree with you on the right length for the student's age, focus and subject.

How are lesson times set?

Lesson times are flexible for each student and set in their country's time zone, so you can choose times that fit their day. We agree on them with you after the trial lesson, and if you travel during the holidays to a country in a different time zone, we'll review the schedule with you.

What language are lessons taught in?

We teach in the language the student needs. So if your child studies math or science in English at school, we explain those subjects in English, just as they learn them there. Lessons can be taught in a language the student understands if they don't speak Arabic.

What if the student is late for a lesson?

If the student is late, the lesson still ends at its original time; if they have not joined within 15 minutes of the start, it counts as a missed lesson. If you know in advance that the student will be late or can't attend, let us know on WhatsApp as soon as you can.

What if the internet cuts out during a lesson?

If a lesson is interrupted by a problem on the teacher's or the academy's side, it is made up at another time and does not count against the package. If the problem is on the student's side, contact us and we'll agree on the next step together.

The trial lesson

Is the trial lesson free?

Yes. A free trial lesson is available with each teacher, in every section and subject. The trial lesson lasts 30 minutes. After that, the decision is yours: if you'd like to continue, you choose the package that suits your child. A package is paid for before its first lesson.

My child studies two subjects. Do they get two trial lessons?

The trial is linked to the teacher, not the subject. If the same teacher teaches the student more than one subject, such as the Quran and Noor Al-Bayan, that is one trial lesson; subjects taught by different teachers each get their own.

If the student isn't comfortable with the teacher, can they try another one?

Yes. A free trial lesson is available with each teacher, in every section and subject, so the student can try another teacher before you choose a package. Tell us what didn't suit them in the first trial, and we'll keep it in mind when we suggest the next teacher.

What happens in the trial lesson?

Your child gets to know the teacher and their way of explaining, and the teacher gets to know your child's level and what they need. Then you decide whether the teacher and the program suit them.

How do I book the trial lesson?

Message us on WhatsApp and tell us your country, your child's stage and grade, the subject or program they need and the times that suit you. Then we'll suggest a teacher and arrange the lesson time with you.

Packages and prices

How much do lessons cost, and why don't you publish prices?

Packages are priced per hour, with a price in each country's local currency and a unified US dollar price. Because the price differs from one country to another, we don't publish a single list for everyone. We share the hourly price for your country when you contact us, so you get the price that applies to you, along with the package details.

Is a package a monthly subscription?

No, packages are not a monthly subscription. You choose the package that fits the student's schedule. A package is paid for before its first lesson, and the student then uses its lessons within its validity period.

How do I pay?

Payment is by bank transfer. No payment is made through this website, and we don't ask for your card details. If you receive bank details in our name from a number you don't recognize, check with us using a WhatsApp button on this website before you transfer.

How long is a package valid, and what about unused lessons?

A package is valid for two months from the date of purchase. Unused lessons are not lost when the package expires: you can ask for their value back under our refund policy within three months of the date of purchase. If you do not ask within that time, the unused lessons lapse.

Can I pause a package?

Yes. You can pause the package temporarily, during travel or exam periods, for example. A pause can last up to one month, and it does not extend the package's validity or the deadline for requesting a refund. Let us know early on WhatsApp, before the pause starts.

Can a lesson be rescheduled or cancelled?

Yes. A lesson can be rescheduled or cancelled with at least 24 hours' notice; a lesson cancelled later or missed by the student counts against the package. So if you know the student can't attend, message us on WhatsApp as soon as you can.

What if I want to end a package before its lessons are used up?

Let us know on WhatsApp. If a package is ended at the family's request, the value of unused lessons is refunded by bank transfer within 14 to 30 days, after deducting the lessons already given or counted against the package; the student or parent pays the transfer fees. The student or parent also bears any difference in the currency exchange rate on a refund. A refund must be requested within three months of the date of purchase; after that, the value of unused lessons can no longer be claimed. The details are in the refund policy section of our terms and conditions.

Teachers and progress updates

Are female teachers available for girls and women?

Yes. Female teachers are available, with a dedicated section for women. Tell us your family's preference when you book, and we'll suggest a teacher on that basis.

Can we change the teacher if they aren't the right fit?

Yes. A parent can ask to change the teacher. Tell us what didn't suit the student, and we'll suggest another teacher.

What if the teacher misses a lesson?

If the teacher cannot attend, we make up the lesson at another time that suits the student.

How does the teacher contact the student outside lessons?

Teachers contact a student outside lessons only through the parent or the academy's number, never through their personal numbers or accounts.

How can I follow my child's progress and what's left in the package?

We keep parents updated on their child's progress, so you know where your child stands and what comes next. You can also ask us on WhatsApp at any time how many lessons are left in the package.

What is the parent's role, and do they sit in on lessons with their child?

A parent or guardian registers, communicates and pays for a student under 18, and supervises according to the student's age.

The Quran

What programs does the Quran and Islamic studies section offer?

The section has four programs. Noor Al-Bayan is a step-by-step method that builds a foundation in reading. Tajweed (the rules of correct recitation) improves the student's recitation by applying the rules in practice to what they recite. Quran memorization comes with a regular revision plan that protects what the student has already memorized. Islamic studies covers the basics of aqeedah (creed), fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), tafseer (Quran interpretation), hadith (the sayings, actions and silent approvals of the Prophet, peace be upon him) and seerah (his biography), explained simply. We suggest the right program once we know the student's level.

At what age can a child start learning the Quran?

Many children start by building their reading with Noor Al-Bayan, then move on to tajweed and memorization when they're ready. We choose the right program once we know the child's level.

Do you teach Al-Qaida An-Noorania?

Yes. Al-Qaida An-Noorania is also available. Like Noor Al-Bayan, it's a step-by-step method for learning to read the Quran. If the student has already started with either of them, let us know so we can carry on from where they left off.

Which reading of the Quran is used for memorization?

Memorization is available in all the readings (riwayat). When you contact us, tell us which reading the student recites in, or wants to memorize in.

Do your Quran teachers hold ijazah and sanad?

Yes. All our Quran teachers hold ijazah with a connected chain. A connected chain (sanad) is the unbroken line of teachers, each of whom learned the recitation from the one before, back to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The student recites to their teacher, who corrects their recitation as they go.

Is it possible to receive an ijazah in the Quran?

An ijazah is a certificate that a qualified Quran teacher (sheikh) grants a student after the student has recited the whole Quran to them with mastery. It confirms that the student is qualified to recite it, or to teach its recitation. Students who complete their recitation to a licensed sheikh can receive an ijazah with a connected chain, under its recognized conditions. The decision rests with whoever grants the ijazah, after hearing the student recite: it's awarded for mastery, not for the number of lessons.

Are the Quran programs suitable for adults and non-Arabic speakers?

Yes. Adults can correct their recitation or start memorizing, with a plan that fits their schedule. For non-Arabic speakers, we start with the letters and where each sound is made, explained simply. Lessons can be taught in a language the student understands if they don't speak Arabic.

Curricula and programs

Which countries and school stages do you serve?

We work with families in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, and each country's curriculum has its own page. We teach every stage from kindergarten to secondary.

Do lessons follow the student's school curriculum?

Yes. Lessons are built on your country's national curriculum, for your child's grade and track, and keep pace with what they're studying this semester. We work out with you which subjects they need support in. You'll find the details of each country's curriculum, with its stages, tracks and exams, on its own page.

Do you teach international curricula?

We also teach international curricula, such as the British curriculum and IGCSE, the American curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB). Tell us the student's curriculum, their grade and the subjects they need support in, and we'll suggest the right teacher.

Do you help with homework and revision before exams?

Yes. In the lesson, your child works through their homework with the teacher, so they understand how to solve it instead of copying the answer. We also review units with them and practice sample questions before school exams.

Do you prepare students for Qudurat, Tahsili, NAFS and language tests?

Yes. We prepare students for the Qudurat and Tahsili tests (the General Aptitude Test and the Standard Achievement Admission Test) and for language tests such as IELTS. Practice for the NAFS tests (the National Assessments) is also part of our lessons for students on the Saudi curriculum.

Do you prepare students for the national and ministry exams in my country?

Yes. Each country has its own official exams: NAFS, Qudurat and Tahsili in Saudi Arabia, the central exams in the UAE, the secondary-certificate exams in Kuwait, the General Secondary Certificate exams in Qatar, the national exams in Bahrain and the General Education Diploma exams in Oman. We prepare students for these exams by reviewing the subjects they cover and practicing questions in their format. You'll find the details of your country's exams on its curriculum page.

What's the difference between programs and curriculum lessons?

Curriculum lessons explain and review the school coursework the student is studying in their grade. Programs, such as Arabic, English and math foundations, mental math and coding, build core skills or prepare the student for a specific test. The student can combine the two, and we'll suggest the right option once we know their level.

Privacy and data

Will you send me offers or marketing messages on WhatsApp?

We do not send promotional offers or marketing messages on WhatsApp. Instead, we use the chat to answer your questions, arrange your child's lessons and keep you updated on their progress.

Are lessons recorded?

We record lessons only with the parent's consent, and never use a recording outside the student's own follow-up. Families may record a lesson only with the teacher's permission, and must not publish the recording.

What do you do with my child's data?

As our privacy policy sets out, we limit the student's data to what we need to arrange their lessons and follow their learning, and we never sell your data or your child's data to anyone. We keep contact and learning data while the student is enrolled, then delete or de-identify it within 12 months of the last interaction, unless the law requires longer. The policy explains what we collect and who we share it with.

No. The website introduces the academy and its programs and lets you contact us, so it doesn't require an account, and no booking or payment happens on it. We arrange lessons with you on WhatsApp.
